Where has this year gone?! It’s hard to believe that we’re already into December, but we really are into the final stretch of 2022, and with that comes something that I have been looking forward to for months: time to open the new LEGO Star Wars advent calendar. Last year was my first ever time getting the calendar, as one of my friends bought it for me, and I absolutely loved it, so had to get this year’s!
But rather than keep it to myself, I thought that this year it would be fun to chart this month’s gifts with you. So each day, I will be showing you the minikit that was behind that day’s door, allowing you to decide if the calendar is something you would consider purchasing in the future, but I will also then give a few details about the ship/item/character the kit is of.
So… let’s get going!
2022 Advent Calendar:
- LAAT/i gunship
- Clone trooper – 212ᵗʰ Attack Battalion – Phase I armor
- Droid tri-fighter
- Acclamator-class Republic assault ship
- B1 battle droid
- Omicron-class attack shuttle
- X-34 landspeeder
- T-16 skyhopper
Day 9 has given us a minikit of C-3PO. A 3PO-series protocol droid designed to interact with organics, programmed primarily for etiquette and protocol, Threepio was fluent in over 6 million forms of communication. Though Threepio’s early history is unknown, he was rebuilt from scrap parts by Anakin Skywalker to help his mother Shmi around the home. The droid stayed with Shmi when Anakin was freed, and went with her to the Lars Household when they took ownership of her. With Shmi’s passing, Threepio passed back to Anakin Skywalker, who put him in the employ Naboo senator Padmé Amidala. Following her passing at the end of the Clone Wars, Threepio’s mind was wiped and his ownership passed to Captain Raymus Antilles of Alderaan, where he would help serve the Organa family and help in their early steps to creating the Rebellion. By chance, an Imperial attack on Antilles’ ship led to Threepio coming into the employ of the Lars family once again and Luke Skywalker, which led to Skywalker becoming involved in the Rebellion. Threepio continued to serve both Skywalker and Leia Organa through the Galactic Civil War and remained in the employ of Organa and Han Solo after the war, which led to him also serving the Resistance during the Cold War. In the final days of the Cold War, Threepio was able to help locate a wayfinder that would allow the Resistance to find the way to Exegol, though this came at the loss of his memory—though most was later recovered from a back-up contained by R2-D2.
What do you think of the minikit, and the advent calendar in general?
