With the final scene of The Mandalorian season 2, we were treated to Boba Fett and Fennec Shand taking up residence in what had previously been Jabba’s Palace, with the reveal of a new series, The Book of Boba Fett.
At the moment, we know very little about it, except that it will release around Christmas, with season 3 of The Mandalorian coming later, and it seems that it will run concurrent with The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic. We know that Boba and Fennec will be returning, but who else could appear in this series?
Surely you don’t cast Timothy Olyphant as a character for just 1 episode! Depending on Boba’s motives in the series (is he trying to create his own cartel or cleanse Tatooine?), he could very easily find himself allied or against the Marshal of Mos Pelgo. Vanth was a fun character in Chapter 9 of The Mandalorian and there is very little of his story currently set in canon, so it would be easy to bring him into this series, while the fact that he spent the best part of 5 years wearing Boba’s armour could lead to some great interactions and also reveal why Boba apparently let Vanth keep wearing his armour.
Those who have read the Aftermath trilogy will know that bringing Vanth into the series would also allow for an opportunity to bring in Borgo the Hutt. Vanth found Borgo as a Huttlet and with the help of Jabba’s former beastmaster Malakili, was training him to become a puppet ruler. Like with Vanth, depending on Boba’s intentions, the presence of Borgo could be a means to success or a possible hindrance.
Boba’s return to Jabba’s Palace is surely going to be a chance to bring back some of our favourites from the criminal underworld, so who better than Bossk. The Clone Wars shows Bossk and Boba working together on a number of occasions, and with improved technology and costumes, this would be the perfect chance for the Trandoshan to return to live action.
This series would also be the perfect place for a fan-favourite bounty hunter from The Clone Wars to make his live action debut. Embo is another bounty hunter who has a history of working with Boba, and was one of the most successful bounty hunters during the time of the Clone Wars. Embo has been portrayed as a hunter with a conscience, who is willing to fight for what is right, so would work well with Boba if he is trying to clean up Tatooine.
I must admit that I was surprised to not hear of any shows focusing on Crimson Dawn, but they could appear in this show. While Maul would be gone and the cartel no longer the power it used to be, we could see Qi’ra make a return, trying to keep hold of whatever power she has left.
Having appeared in both The Clone Wars and Rebels, as well as being a character at Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge Park, it feels like just a matter of time before Hondo appears in a live action show. While this show feels like it could easily become quite dark and serious depending on the storyline, having Hondo pop in could add a lighter touch to the show.
So those are some of my predictions, who d you think could pop up and who would you like to see?
Thanks for reading. May the Force be with you….
