From a Certain Point of View: The Original Trilogy

Hello there!

swbook from a certain point of viewSo I recently wrote about how much I enjoyed the book From a Certain Point of View, a novel celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of A New Hope, containing 40 short stories showing the events of the movie from the point of view of other characters. I really enjoyed the book and hope that we get these for the other movies as we reach their anniversaries, but who could feature in those stories?

I thought that it would be fun to look back through the other Original Trilogy movies and select some of the characters that I think could be featured (or would like to be featured) if similar books are done for those movies.

The Empire Strikes Back

  • The Wampa
  • The Probe Droid – this could be done in a similar way to “Of MSE-6 and Men”, showing how everything is being processed by the droidswbook battlefront twilight company
  • Captain Micha Evon – we know from Battlefront: Twilight Company that Howl was involved in commanding the ground defence during the Battle of Yavin but suffered a wound that he later died from
  • General Veers
  • Derek Klivian – Hobbie was one of the pilots who fought in the Battle of Hoth. Shown in the movie (“Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?”), Hobbie was Luke’s wingman during the battle. A scene involving Hobbie crashing his speeder into General Veers’ AT-AT was cut from the film but is still considered canon
  • Wedge Antilles
  • Dak Ralter
  • Zev Senesca
  • Wes Janson
  • Lobot
  • Boba Fett
  • Bossk
  • IG-88
  • Willrow Hood – I’m sure we all want to know why that ice cream maker was so important
  • Admiral Piett
  • Captain Needa
  • Admiral Ozzel
  • Palpatine – to find out what Palpatine was thinking when Vader suggested turning Luke to the dark side could be interesting
  • General Rieekan
  • Unidentified Rebel – “Imperial troops have entered the base! Imperial troops have ent—”

Return of the Jedi

  • Hera Syndulla – the finale of Rebels confirmed she was at the Battle of Endor
  • Captain Rex – the suggestion that Rex is the old, bearded Rebel in Han’s team of Pathfinders has been around for a while and was certainly hinted towards with his outfit in the final season of Rebels
  • Malakili
  • Moff Jerjerrod
  • Nien Nunb
  • Arvel Crynyd – Green Leader in the Battle of Endor, he is the A-wing pilot who crashes into the bridge of the Executor
  • Admiral Piett
  • One of Palpatine’s Royal Guard
  • Chirpa
  • Logray
  • Paploo
  • Teebo
  • The Ewok who uses a glider during the Battle of Endor
  • The Ewok who we see mourning when its friend is killed in the Battle of Endor – one of the saddest scenes in the movie, this could be the most emotional story in the book

    swyodaidentities
Yoda – from the Star Wars Identities exhibit
  • Max Rebo
  • Oola
  • Sy Snootles
  • Bib Fortuna
  • Salacious B. Crumb
  • Admiral Ackbar
  • General Madine
  • Mon Mothma
  • Yoda – this could be in a similar vein to that of “Time of Death”, showing Yoda’s first moments after becoming one with the Force
  • Anakin Skywalker – a story immediately following his death could explain how he can come back as a Force ghost and why his ghost appears young when Yoda and Obi-Wan still appear old

Who would you like to see? Thanks for reading and May the Force be with you…
