Welcome to 31 Days of Star Wars! As this is a new blog I thought this would be the perfect way for you to get to know me a bit by answering a different question about my Star Wars preferences each day in March. Today’s subject is…
Favourite Book/Comic Book Character
For this, I am looking at characters who have appeared mainly in book/comics rather than on-screen. As of the time I write this I have not really gone into the comics yet so I expect my opinion to change in the future as I discover characters like Aphra, who so far I have only experienced in one chapter of A Certain Point of View. For now though, I have chosen Thane Kyrell from Lost Stars.
Thane is a character who clearly waned to join the Empire to escape his current life and to become one of the best pilots in the galaxy, however when he saw the atrocities the Empire committed (slavery and the destruction of Alderaan), he took the chance to go AWOL and escape the Empire.
“Corona Four, right behind you.”
Eventually he joined the Rebellion just before the Battle of Hoth more due to his hate of the Empire than his love of the Rebellion and their plans, which is not something we have really seen before. We also get moments where we see his loyalty split between the Rebellion and his love for Cienna Ree, leading him to some big decisions.
Who is your favourite character from the books/comics? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading and May the Force be with you…
