Welcome to 31 Days of Star Wars! As this is a new blog I thought this would be the perfect way for you to get to know me a bit by answering a different question about my Star Wars preferences each day in March. Today’s subject is…
Favourite Moment from Rogue One
What else could I pick but the moment that made jaws hit floors and gave fans nerdgasms worldwide: that hallway scene.
I am so glad that Vader was used sparingly in this film as it helped us remember that the Galactic Civil War was more than just the heroes versus Vader and the Emperor. However this moment added so much to Vader’s on-screen badassery.
I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for the soldiers to hear his breathing coming from the dark end of the hallway, only for the ignition of his lightsaber to show a frightening figure. To many of these soldiers, Vader was likely the Bogeyman, a terror that they had heard stories of but never believed… until now.
The way he advances down the hall dealing effortlessly with the soldiers shows just how powerful he is when compared to the average Rebel and the combination of dark hallways, flashes of blaster bolts, screams and Michael Giacchino’s incredible music makes this seem very much like a horror movie for one brief minute.
This is the Vader we always wanted to see, and Gareth Edwards didn’t disappoint!
Which is your favourite moment from the film? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading and May the Force be with you…
