Welcome to 31 Days of Star Wars! As this is a new blog I thought this would be the perfect way for you to get to know me a bit by answering a different question about my Star Wars preferences each day in March. Today’s subject is…
Favourite Prequel Trilogy Movie
This isn’t the easiest to pick as I do have issues with all the prequel movies more than I do with any other Star Wars movie. They all have some redeeming factors, but in terms of my favourite overall, I would probably have to pick Revenge of the Sith.
This is by no means a perfect movie, but it gives you almost everything you want from a Star Wars movie: an epic space battle, lightsaber duels aplenty and also some great ground combat. It also has some of the most heart-wrenching moments of the first 6 films, with the Order 66 montage including the attack on the Jedi Temple and Obi-Wan’s final speech to a burning Anakin living long in the memory, while the Opera scene with the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis still holds up as one of the best scenes in the entire saga.
“So this is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause”
There are certainly moments that don’t make sense – like Yoda going into exile for losing to Darth Sidious – often caused by a need to tie in to the Original Trilogy, but I think that the extra combat and darker tone make this my favourite Prequel Trilogy film.
Which is your favourite movie in the Prequel Trilogy? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading and May the Force be with you…
